i don't like the look in kde,i prefer the way of indicators in unity,like a menu. Actually all elements are hidden on a top panel with several removed:network,disk manager,battery,volume in plasmoids, notifications removed(very bad especially copy dialog BRRRR) etc etc in this way is drastically reduced access to the systray.
well if you hide everything you got the drop-down menu in KDE? perhaps that's not what you mean by "like unity". anyway yes i remove quite a few myself and i know exactly what you mean by copy notifications.. horror. still i keep it - and it's not so bad in fushigi - because i need to know when that copy/move thing is done. *sigh* nothing is perfect, not even KDE
sure not,remain the button and on click open the popup with list of icons on the systray,is not like indicators obv For copy if you remove notifications,you have the classic copy dialog,also other apps show their notifications like the old way,whit a small undecorated window,is the better way imho.
